Information About Sidari Corfu
Sidari is a developed resort that has combined a couple of small former fishing villages. Sidari is still growing and is very popular with British visitors, so Sidari resort is certainly for those looking for a popular lively place with plenty of bars and tavernas and nightlife. Located on the north coast of Corfu, set on Bay and surrounded by fertile hills. Sidari is 26 miles north of Corfu town and the airport and just 4 miles west of the popular beach resort of Roda. Sidari is ideal for those looking for a busy resort, a little larger than neighbouring Roda, with plenty of shops and entertainment along with a choice of three beaches.

Sidari beach is divided into three parts. The main beach is the central stretch, a long sandy bay. The resort enjoys water that is remarkably calm and extremely shallow, making this a favourite with children and swimmers. Watersports are available. Other Sidari beaches are found near the harbour to the east and the famous coves of the Canal D'Amour to the west. The Canal D'Amour is an area of eroding sandstone cliffs that have formed several tiny sand and shingle coves reached by paths and even ladders. Those furthest from the resort are the quietest. Sidari nightlife is definitely on the lively side with a lot of tavernas offering Greek and British food as well as innumerable cafes, music bars and clubs.

Sidari has plenty of shops that open until late. From Sidari you can take the opportunity to walk along the cliffs and explore inland to find quaint unspoilt Corfu villages. Fascinating historic Corfu Town can be reached by bus, along with the resorts of Kassiopi and Aghios Stefanos. Other favourite Sidari excursions include the resort of Paleokastritsa and boat trips to the islands of Paxos and Erikoussa.
The long sandy beach of Sidari is situated in front of the homonymous very popular and crowded enough tourist resort, within a wonderful landscape, some 36 kilometers Northwestern to the town of Corfu. In fact there are three successive beaches, very close one to another. The beaches are at their major part sandy and partly with small pebbles, with shallow and safe water, ideal for families with small children. However, you are advised to be careful when entering the sea, as the water is very cold, even in full summer.
Swimming and sunbathing is marvelous at the nice, well-organised sandy beaches of the village, awarded a blue flag: at the beach beside the small port, or at the long beach with shallow and safe sea, ideal for children and with numerous sunbeds and umbrellas. Finally, you may swim at the famous beach with the romantic name “Canal d’ amour” (“the Channel of Love”). Here, you will swim among the rocks transformed to natural sculptures by the wind and the water. If you like sea sports, a Water Park is available for you. And, if you like to have a light meal when at the beach, several snack bars are available. Access from the capital (Corfu, 36 kilometers) is easy by rented or private car and motorbikes. A taxi station is available in the village. Small boats with regular service depart daily from the small port of Sidari to the islets of Othoni, Ereikoussa and Mathraki. |
