Arillas Corfu – Small west coast beach resort
Arillas is at the northern end of the west coast of Corfu, just over a mile from Agios Stefanos and 32 miles from Corfu Town and the airport. Arillas is centred on a small attractive resort reached by a road twisting down from a lush valley. Arillas is popular with families and couples looking for a small modest resort with the emphasis on beach relaxation with the occasional trip into the surrounding countryside. The resort has a certain quiet and sheltered feel, this being the furthest north of the west coast Corfu destinations.
Arillas holidays – Sandy safe beaches
The beach in Arillas is pleasantly set in a bay between headlands and cliffs. The beach offers good safe swimming as the water is very shallow and the beach is mostly golden sand. In Arilas ypu can enjoy several neighbouring beaches within walking distance like Agios Stefanos beach to the north, over a mile long and offering both shallow, flashing blue water, safe for children and a broad stretch of golden soft sand. The pebbly Afionas beach is close to Arillas beach, just on the other side of a small stream. Agios Georgios, which boasts a sweeping golden bay between headlands, is a longer walk to the south.
Walks, horse riding and some relaxed nightlife
Stables in Arillas offer horse riding lessons and trips into the pleasant agricultural countryside surrounding. Windsurfing, sailing and waterskiing are other holiday activities, though this resort really invites the simple pleasures of beach and taverna. Arillas nightlife is restricted to a selection of tavernas and a few bars and a club. In Arilas you could also explore the countryside and cliffs on foot, visit the Byzantine monastery of Paleokastritsa and visit islands like Paxos and Kefalonia by boat. Buses run to Corfu Town and Agios Stefanos. |
